D-Tech Rotary Steerable Completes One of Its Fastest Wolfcamp Laterals for Permian Operator

THE CHALLENGE
- A Permian Basin operator needed to complete an extended-reach lateral as quickly as possible.
- They had previously utilized both conventional BHAs and rotary steerable systems but had experienced equipment failures.
- The customer chose D-Tech Rotary Steerable because of their track record and the ability to avoid time sliding and orienting.
THE SOLUTION
- The D-Tech team worked with the customer to develop the optimal BHA, utilizing the customer’s preferred technologies to complement the D-Tech plug-and-play RSS.
- The RSS achieved the desired inclination and maintained the target azimuth window for the duration of the lateral.
- D-Tech and their remote operations group helped reached TD without issue, completing the well quickly and cost effectively.
THE BENEFIT
- The D-Tech RSS drilled 13,113 ft in 48.9 drilling hours at 268 ft/hr, reaching TD in one run.
- This run was one of the fastest Wolfcamp laterals that D-Tech has completed in the Permian Basin.
