  • QA & QC Technician

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The main role of the QA/QC Technician is to ensure all of the goods that arrive at Bristol are verified against the requirements before they are put into stock and that records of the verification are kept and are easily retrievable. Other duties are controlling the calibration of equipment used in Bristol and assisting in packing and shipping duties when needed.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The individual will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

    • Ensure all new or used components & assemblies meet drawing requirements/specifications
    • Create and maintain inspection records for all components & assemblies
    • Help create Quality procedures/documents where required
    • Maintain calibration requirements & records for all calibrated equipment 
    • Ensure CMM is properly utilized & programmes are available for majority of components
    • Composing Defect Reports and Concession requests
    • Assist in shipping/receiving items as required 
    • Perform any other duties as required 

    QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    List Required qualifications/experience

    • The individual must at a minimum possess the following:
    • Knowledge or experience in engineering environment
    • Read & understand engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing
    • Programme & or operate CMM
    • Experienced in the use of mechanical inspection equipment such as Micrometers, Verniers, etc
    • Able to communicate both verbally and written
    • Working knowledge of office 365 programs inc Excel & Word.
    • Organised with the ability to handle more than one job at a time
    • Can prioritise their workload to complete their goals
    • Team player that can work with others 

    List Preferred qualifications/experience

    • Apprenticeship or formal qualifications in engineering discipline
    • Experience in programming CMM preferably Aberlink
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience with 5 years preferred
    • Experience working under requirements of ISO9001


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The individual must be able to:

    • Operate basic office equipment, such as a keyboard, mouse, and copier/printer/scanning machine.
    • Walk/travel to production areas while wearing the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment when required (i.e. safety glasses or side shields, closed toe shoes, steel-toe footwear, etc.).
    • The employee must be able to lift or move up to 15 pounds. 
    • Sit and/or stand for long periods of time; up to 8-9 hours a day.

  • Senior Electronics Engineer

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be the focal point for all Electrical aspects of the D-Tech tool.  The role will also involve supporting several projects that range from sustaining of the existing tool to new product development.


    JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The individual will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

    • Sustaining of the current electronic assemblies
    • Research into replacements for obsolete components. 
    • Develop new ideas for improving the design, functionality, performance, reliability, and efficiency of the products.
    • Interact with peers in the Engineering team when working on new product development.
    • Research into new devices to enhance the performance and reliability of the product.
    • Testing of designs and products.
    • Liaising with manufacturing during assembly and testing.
    • Designing test and best practice methods to improve quality.
    • Ability to fault find from reading and the understanding of logs, failure analysis.
    • Perform any other duties as required.

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

    • Engineering Degree
    • Ability to research and design new technologies. This will include specifying, testing and evaluating components and designs.
    • Design experience for harsh environments – high temperature, high shock and vibration.
    • Experience of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for schematics and PCB layout.
    • An understanding of Analogue filters
    • Proficient in use of Sensors (accelerometers, magnetometers, gyros)
    • Proficient in the design and use of Switch-mode power supplies (SMPS)
    • Good working knowledge of small AC generators
    • An excellent understanding of Motors/controllers (esp. brushless DC)
    • An understanding of Control systems and algorithms
    • Ability to think outside the box
    • Ability to test your own work and come up with improvements
    • Excellent fault-finding skills
    • Excellent communication skills, including communication with an international team

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

    Knowledge of the following is desired but not a requirement.

    • 10 years’ experience, in a similar role
    • Design experience for harsh environments – high temperature, high shock and vibration.
    • Microcontrollers
    • Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC)
    • Flash and EEPROM memory
    • Mathematics (real world)
    • Altium Designer (schematic and PCB design)
    • Orcad Capture (legacy schematic tool)
    • Pspice or Simetrix (circuit simulation)
  • Mechanical Engineer

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Mechanical Engineer will support several projects that range from sustaining of the existing tool to new product development.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The individual will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

    • Use of 3D CAD packages, ideally Creo. 
    • Design, develop, test, qualify and maintain mechanical products to meet project requirements, whilst adhering to company and business standards.
    • Conduct calculations and/or physical tests to verify designs and document in technical reports
    • Create and maintain documentation including manufacturing, assembly and test procedures. 
    • Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver products under guidance and/or as part of a team.
    • Participate in identifying project and product requirements and risks, and in developing risk management plans.
    • Can prioritise their workload to complete their goals.
    • Organised with the ability to handle more than one job at a time. 
    • Perform any other duties as required. 

    QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    The individual must at a minimum possess the following:

    • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering. Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering minimum, Masters preferred.
    • Previous design and engineering experience, minimum 3 years.
    • Proficient in dimensioning of mechanical drawings and experience of reviewing other designers’ drawings and models.
    • An understanding of how parts are manufactured. 
    • A good understanding of materials and their properties
    • An understanding of electromechanical design.
    • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
    • Excellent computer skills using office 365 programs.

    List Preferred qualifications/experience

    • Experience within the oilfield industry preferably downhole.
    • We also welcome applications from candidates with experience in developing products for use in harsh environments including high shocks and vibrations, pressure and temperature.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Workshop Technician (Mechanical)

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Workshop Technician role covers several different aspects within the business. The duties range from, the assessment and processing of used components, inspection of new and used parts and assemblies, assembly, and dis-assembly mechanical components, testing of the completed assemblies to ensure they are ready for downhole use, shock testing, temperature testing and assisting with  engineering tests.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The individual will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

    • Read Engineering Drawings
    • Good knowledge of machining, manufacturing, and inspection
    • Good working knowledge of assembly, large and small assemblies.
    • Ability to perform a range of engineering tests, this will range from assembly to running and recording data.
    • Assessments of components and liaison with suppliers for refurbishment 
    • Perform any other duties as required.  

    QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    The individual must at a minimum possess the following:

    • Ideally time served/apprenticeship trained technician.
    • An understanding of quality and how important it is to the company.
    • Able to communicate both verbally and written.
    • Working knowledge of office 365 programs especially Excel.
    • Organised with the ability to handle more than one job at a time.
    • Can prioritise their workload to complete their goals.
    • Be able to create and manage paperwork.
    • A good working and flexible attitude, whatever the task.
    • Conscientious and hardworking.
